What is Todomojo?

My calling to be a rootwork practitioner or ‘root doctor’ comes from my Grandmothers.

My French-Cajun grandma was a poor sharecropper's wife who worked the fields in Louisiana. She visited Miss Louise, a rootworker, weekly. The "cures and remedies” grandma learned, along with her Catholic faith, helped her raise her 11 children.

My Lebanese Grandmother, Ms. Michelle, ran a boarding house in a bustling seaport town in Texas. Back in her day she was known not only for her fine cooking but her gift of card reading, which she has passed to me.

I was born March 1952 (Pisces) a truly watery gal, in this same gulf coast town and the blood, knowledge and grounding common sense of these two women flows through my spirit directing me daily as I do my work.

At the turn of the millennium, I left a successful corporate career of managing small businesses on their way up, to starting a home based company for a handpicked clientele of around 13 entrepreneurs and creative talent who are visionaries. My life was making drastic changes, I was hearing the call of Spirit. Miracles were happening and I was in a whirlwind of change!

Raised Catholic (yet not practicing), I had a burning desire drawing me to the images of Saints and Angels. I became infatuated with Buddha, with Goddesses and the teachings of the Dalai Lama. I was seriously being touched by God, Jesus and hearing the Holy Spirit clearly saying “turn up and tune in to your gifts”...I started searching!

I have always enjoyed making amulets to help people make a change. I began doing extensive research on this unquenchable desire to help others. I now knew that the folkloric gifts of my Grandmothers was called rootwork. I read voraciously, started collecting books on spell work, candle magic, rituals, African American folk magic, Native American herbal folk medicine and much more. I took courses, got involved in a community, and Todomojo became a full time reality. My feet were finally firmly planted where they belonged. I was using my hereditary gifts.

We are continuously learning and the guiding force I was so clearly hearing encouraged me to expand my tools and offerings. I found my “intuitive mentor” who has guided my energy and spiritual path for the last 7 years.

The Association of Independent Readers and Rootworkers (AIRR) is a gathering of professional practitioners of African American folk magic, hoodoo, conjure, and rootwork who provide psychic readings and spiritual root doctoring services to the public. AIRR promotes quality service and ethical conduct by means of accreditation and evaluation of our members. Unlike commercial online psychic reader services, AIRR is a membership-supported organization that receives no fees or kickbacks for referrals.
